Union minister MJ Akbar resigns over #MeToo allegations.
Caught in the #MeToo controversy, MJ Akbar today resigned from his position of Minister of State for External Affairs. In a brief statement, Akbar said he had decided to seek justice in a court of law in his personal capacity.
“Since I have decided to seek justice in a court of law in my personal capacity, I deem it appropriate to step down from office and challenge false accusations levied against me, also in a personal capaity,” Akbar said in the statement.
“I have, therefore tedered my resignation from the office of Minister of State for External Affairs. I am deeply grateful to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and to the External Affairs Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj for the opportunity they gave me to serve my country,” the statement added.
The #MeToo movement, which began in the US more than a year ago in response to accusations of sexual harassment and abuse by powerful men in the entertainment industry, gained traction in India last month after former actor Tanushree Dutta accused her co-star Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of a film in 2008.
Since then, several men in the media, entertainment, political and art worlds have been accused of offences, ranging from sexual harassment to rape.

Morality has stopped so low in India ,Allegations seems prima facie true.Since times immemorial woman has been treated as a commodity.We should be grateful to woman who are coming forward and challenging the male superiority,we must appreciate them ,we should stand behind them like a rock.Almost all offender make false excuses on one pretext or the other.It is a matterof shame that everyday,some big politician or teacher or senior officer indulges in such cases,Government is overlooking the fact Me all these seems to be the feather of the same who flock together.

I am harassed by Adv MK IRANI from Pune for last 28 yrs in Vinay High school Bhawani Peth Pune, by sending threatening notices, demanding Fake certificate, instigating butcher parents to attack lady Principal, teachers, threatening by publication defamation by reporter Assem Shaikh, Munir Patel, without documentary evidences, files false FIR,without proof of Munir Patel, openly demanding money in lakh from poor most awarded aided recognised sch in promotion of Edu. Police of Pune, all BAR COUNCILS, support him for illegal, threatening and underworld demands! Till Vinay High school for poor has to be closed, hindering the progress of the nation! All are happy! When Adv like MK IRANI, Ashok Tanzane are threat to Judiciary, what can be expected! Bars give up! What a disgrace to Male Adv MK IRANI, earn sinful money from poor most awarded sch, and lady Principal!

Bar Councils spare him as he has pulls, Police are frightened of him! What a disgrace shame to Judiciary, even schools are not spared. Its unpleasant to hear such type of activities in this educated world, but i think this type of activities get supported only because we do not oppose it.
Please lodge a complaint on the she portal started by Maneka Gandhi Mam for these types of harresment in work place. It is fully safe.
