Summer School on Consumer and Competition Law.
One Week Annual Summer School on Consumer and Competition Law From June 9th – June 15th, 2018
About the Summer School:
Globalization and liberalization and the development of market-systems in India, have, on one hand improved the quality of life of individuals and on the other hand have brought stiff competition among the different market-players and stakeholders to the forefront. The unhealthy competition has led to the adoption of anti-competitive practices and thereby causes exploitation of the consumers. The Competition Act, 2002 addresses this issue and seeks to curb anti-competitive practices with a view to promote effective competition in the market and maximization of consumer welfare. Since, Competition Law is an emerging subject, this one week summer school on consumer and competition law in the month of June 2018, will provide an opportunity to the legal professionals to get a comprehensive and in-depth understanding about the subject of competition law and its practical application.
This Summer School will be a flagship initiative of the School of Legal Studies and a milestone in the field of Consumer and Competition Law in India. At present, there are not many institutions in India, who are actually takers of this subject. It is pertinent to note, that the School of Legal Studies happens to be one among the few institutions in India where Consumer and Competition Law are taught as undergraduate law subjects and as a specialized papers in LLM level.
