(Central Universities Common Entrance Test)

What is CUCET?

(CUCET) is an all-India level entrance exam conducted together by 14 central colleges for affirmation in UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses advertised in all the participating institutions.

 The CUCET is conducted only once a year over 120 cities in India. The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen & paper test) which is for two hours. A total of 20 colleges take an interest, counting 13 central colleges and apart from them, Dr. B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) is additionally a participating institute for the exam. The Central University of Rajasthan is the coordinating college for the exam, which invites applications from qualified students each year.

Eligibility Criteria

Applying candidates should be Indian citizens.

For UG

Students will need to have passed class XII from a recognized board to take admission in Bachelor’s degree programs within the Central Universities.

For the Common category, the candidate should secure at least 50 percent in course XII, for SC/ST, candidates have to have secured at least 45 percent in class XII in order to be qualified for the CUCET.

 For PG

Candidates applying for a master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree from a perceived college. Candidates applying for confirmation in the same field of Bachelor’s or diverse require have secured at least 55 percent (General)/ 50 percent (SC/ST) to be eligible for CUCET.

For Ph.D.

Candidates applying for the Ph.D. program must have a Master’s degree for a recognized college or organized to apply for admission in research programs. The candidate must have secured at least 55 percent (Genera)/ 50 percent (SC/ST) to be qualified for Ph.D. programs within the Central Universities.

In case a candidate has secured a rank in UGC-CSIR JRF, GATE, NBHM or qualified in any other national level examination, they don’t have to appear for the entrance test. In any case, the candidate will have to enroll for CUCET.

Application Process

  • Visit the official site- https://www.cucetexam.in/
  • Sign in and continue with filling the application form.
  • Enter your details, communication, academic qualification.
  • Then, upload the pictures of the signature and photo of the limited size and enter the exam center details.
  • Then, enter the college and program details as a candidate can choose 3 courses in a particular selected college.
  • Lastly, see the application form and pay the application fee.

Exam Pattern

·        Only MCQ will be asked in the examination.

·        The exam will be there in two parts, i.e. Part A and Part B.

·        Part-A: This section contains topics from the English language, general awareness, mathematical aptitude, and analytical skills.

·        Part-B: This part has been divided into three sections and consists of a total of 75 MCQs overall.

·        The exam duration is 2 hours.

·        The exam is organized through online mode.

·        One mark is given for each correct answer.

·        0.25 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

·        The exam will be conducted in the OMR pattern.

Preparation Tips

Exam Day Guidelines

·        CUCET Admit card: CUCET 2020 admit card is an exceptionally important document to be carried to the test center. Candidates not having their admit card on the day of the exam might not be permitted to give the paper.

·        ID Proof: Candidates must also carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the exam center.

·        Records that can be presented as an ID proof are Driving License, Passport, Pan Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, etc. Photo: Candidates are too advised to carry a passport size photo to the test center.

·         The photo ought to preferably be the same (or similar) as used at the time of filling the CUCET application form.

·        Apart from knowing about the documents to be carried, candidates ought to too be aware of the things that ought to not be carried inside the exam hall. A few such things include calculators, mobile phones, watches, eatables, etc.
