Water pollution is the need of the hour. It is a problem being faced by most of the nations of our planet which needs an urgent recourse or otherwise, it will lead to a problem of widespread diseases and deaths. This research paper talks about the importance of water in the life of a human being and its total amount present on Earth. It also discusses about the United Nations organization formed for the protection and promotion of environment friendly activities i.e. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The research paper discusses the sustainable development goal of UNEP of cleaning the water bodies by the year 2030. The paper mainly focusses on the coordination of UNEP with India in protecting the water bodies and providing clean water in India. In the later stage the research paper discusses how Right to Clean Water evolved as the Fundamental Right in India and the legislations enacted for the same.
